Censorship has been a concern that has been discussed for many years. Censorship is the suppression of a publication or various other work of art which may be considered objectionable, harmful, hypersensitive, or inconvenient to the basic body of men and women as dependant upon a government, media store, or other controlling body system. A " challenged” book is one which has had endeavors to remove or restrict their material. A banned book is a book censored with a power keeping authority, such as the government or possibly a school, and has been taken off. These suspended books will be removed from the library of school. Book banning has gone way back, " in terms of 450 M. C., once Anaxagoras wrote that this individual thought the sun was a " white hot stone and that the moon shown the sun's rays. ” His writings were regarded " derogatory” to the gods. ” (Magelky 1) Literature are restricted because they are regarded unfit for just about any age group. Causes of banning an e book can be assault or intimate content. Each time a book gets banned, it will not mean really illegal to be read, it can just taken off the shelves of anywhere it was suspended from and it is harder to look for. There is a wide range of debate over banned ebooks, as well as if the children needs to have the " right to read”. Some people are against banning any publication or any form of censorship because it interferes with our first variation right of freedom of speech. Others think it is good, in moderation. A few think the parents should be the that you decide if their kid can read the book. People that believe book banning agree with the very fact that publication banning is done with " the best intentions, to protect people, usually kids, from tough ideas and information” (ALA 1). Restricted books have been around for years and years and it shouldn't seem to be blocking any time soon. Walter Milton Myers was born about Thursday, august 12th, 1937, in Martinsburg, West Va.
